NCAA Certified Bats Web Site

This web page will be used to list all bats that have been submitted to the University at Massachusetts at Lowell Baseball Research Center (UMLBRC) for NCAA certification and have passed. All bats are tested per the NCAA Ball Exit Speed Ratio (BESR) Protocol  or Bat-Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) Protocol. Table 1. summarizes the bats which have been submitted and run through the BESR and/or BBCOR certification process and passed.

Hollow composite bats need to also need to pass the  Accelerated Break-In (ABI) Protocol to be eligible for NCAA play per the NCAA Composite bat moratorium.  Other leagues, e.g. the NFHS, do not require the ABI process at this time.

Read a White Paper describing the BESR.

Limited Information

The UMLBRC receives numerous requests for specific batted-ball speeds and inquiries as to the BEST bat. The UMLBRC is not at liberty to share such information. The only information that can be shared with parties outside the NCAA, respective bat company and the UMLBRC is that the bat PASSED the certification test. Neither this web site nor the UMLBRC will get involved with the potential promoting of one bat over another based on lab-testing performances. Likewise, the bat companies are not suppose to be divulging any specifics on the test results.
